This big lake fronts many of the outlying villages and has islands with more villages, temples and ancient sights. You can take a horse taxi to a boat to explore the lake. We stayed in Dali for 12 days and still didn't see everything, but we like to take a relaxed pace. It's a wonderful place to sightsee or just relax in town. The have the most wonderful local yoghurt, it is so rich it tastes almost like tangy English clotted cream.
